Scam Alert Involving Remote Work Offers
We are aware of fraudulent text messages claiming to offer remote work opportunities. These unexpected and unsolicited text messages often ask recipients to reply to the SMS text or iMessage. Eventualy their goal is to somehow obtain your personal banking information. In their attempt to fool you, they falsely reference our brand or domain, RemoteWork.org.
What You Need to Know:
- We Are Not Involved:
RemoteWork.org has no connection to these text messages, the phone numbers used, or the individuals behind them. We do not recruit using these unexpected text messages. Our domain name has been misused in this fraudulent scheme without our consent or involvement. - Do Not Respond:
If you receive an unsolicited text message offering remote work, please do not reply, click any links, or provide any personal information. These unexpected text messages are likely part of a malicious campaign to first steal your personal information and then to steal your banking information. - We Do Not Send Unsolicited Text Messages:
RemoteWork.org does not communicate with individuals via unsolicited text messages. Any legitimate initial communication would come from our official email addresses or website. - Reporting Fraudulent Messages:
If you receive a suspicious text message, we encourage you to:- Report it to your mobile carrier by forwarding screenshots of the message along with the full text with date/time of the SMS message to 7726 (SPAM). This 7726 destination works for any phone carrier.
- Report a malicious iMessage by forwarding screenshots of the message along with full text of the message with date/time to imessage.spam@apple.com. This destination is appropriate for any malicious iMessage received on any phone carrier.

- File a report with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
- Block the sender’s phone number to prevent further messages.
What We Are Doing:
We are actively working to prevent the misuse of our domain and have contacted relevant authorities and service providers to address the issue. Unfortunately, these types of scams are challenging to fully stop, as bad actors often use temporary phone numbers and spoofed information. The bad actors sending these malicious text messages might be physically located in other countries delaying swift prosecution by authorities.
